Belfast Troubles & Peace Free Tour

Explore both sides of Belfast’s troubled past in this walking tour through the Falls and Shankill Roads. Discover powerful murals, the Peace Wall, and the stories behind “The Troubles” with a new generation of impartial local guides.
We meet at Raidió Fáilte, West Belfast's Irish-language radio station. Your guide sets the scene and explains the events that led to the Troubles.
From there we head up the Falls Road, the heartland of Irish republicanism. You'll see Divis Tower, once a British Army observation post, and the International Wall with its ever-changing murals.
Next comes the iconic Bobby Sands mural, along with memorials to IRA volunteers and republican prisoners.
We then pass through a gate in the Peace Wall, which still divides the two communities today. On the other side lies the Shankill Road, the heart of loyalist Belfast.
Here you'll find a different set of murals and memorials, and hear stories of identity, loyalty and loss.
Along the way, you'll learn about the paramilitaries on both sides, how the conflict shaped daily life, and the long road to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.
Led by a new generation of local storytellers who tell the story without taking sides, this is the perfect way to understand the human side of Belfast's past.
