Kreuzberg Free Tour: Women Organized for Housing
♡ Save

An alternative tour of Berlin to discover the unique character of Kreuzberg, its community spaces, cultural expressions, and the role of migrant women in neighborhood life. An authentic experience to get to know another side of the city.
Who does the city belong to, and how did Kreuzberg become the epicenter of global subversion?
This alternative tour of the iconic SO36 district invites you to discover the rebellious, working-class, and immigrant side of Berlin. Through the living history of the squatting movement, we’ll understand how organized neighbors, activists, and dispossessed communities resisted evictions, institutional violence, and real estate speculation.
Our route pays tribute to the stories erased from the official narrative: the migrant mothers who occupied building entrances to protect their children, the architects who revolutionized urban planning from the perspective of domestic care, and the feminist and intercultural alliances that transformed abandoned factories into inalienable bastions of resistance.
We will walk through a map of asphalt, barricades, and community solidarity, connecting the legendary uprisings of May 1, 1987, with the global resistance movements of today. Join us in discovering the history that official plaques prefer not to tell!
