In the Footsteps of Don Miguel de Cervantes in El Toboso

Discover the literary mysteries of La Mancha on a unique tour. We’ll explore Miguel de Cervantes’ true connection to El Toboso, revealing its secrets and the inspiration behind his masterpiece.
I’ve been leading this tour for over 5 years. I’m a passionate expert on the history, culture, art, and traditions of this town. I’ve also studied and traced the footsteps and places Miguel de Cervantes must have visited here.
On this guided tour, we’ll follow in the footsteps of the author of the famous novel, *The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha*, taking a look back at the figure of Don Miguel de Cervantes—both what’s known about him and what’s left unsaid. At the same time, we’ll visit and learn about the monuments, culture, and traditions of the town that undoubtedly saw him walking its streets.
To do so, we will tour: the Church of San Antonio Abad (mentioned in the famous novel), the Convent of the Trinitarias (the religious order to which Cervantes owed his release from captivity in Algiers), the north and west gates of the old city wall (through which he had to enter and exit due to his role as an “alcabalero”—a tax collector and informant for the king), and the Tercia building (where the proceeds from tithes and the alcabala tax were stored).
In short, there are many traces and clues left behind by our world-famous writer that time has not yet been able to erase.
