Secret City of London Free Tour: Hidden Square Mile Walk with Londoner
♡ Save

Discover the hidden City of London with a born-and-bred Londoner — the old Roman wall, medieval alleys, Leadenhall Market of Harry Potter fame, and churches tucked between the skyscrapers. Two thousand years of London in one square mile.
Beneath the glass towers of the world's oldest financial district lies two thousand years of history — Roman, medieval and Victorian London, all crammed into a single square mile. I grew up in South London and have spent a lifetime in these streets, and this is the City I love to share.
Starting at the Monument to the Great Fire of 1666, we'll trace the blaze back to Pudding Lane where it began, then wind through the medieval lanes to Leadenhall Market — a beautiful Victorian arcade on the site of the Roman forum, and a Harry Potter filming spot you'll recognise. We'll slip into St Dunstan-in-the-East, a Blitz-ruined church that's now a hidden garden, find fragments of the Roman wall between the towers, and visit the Guildhall, the City's medieval heart, with a Roman amphitheatre buried beneath.
We finish at St Paul's Cathedral, with a free rooftop view of Wren's great dome. You'll get the real London — the layers, the hidden corners and the human stories the guidebooks skip — from someone who actually grew up here, not from a script. This walk is pay-what-you-feel: come along, enjoy a couple of hours, and give whatever you think it was worth.
