I’m Violet, the soul behind Imara Roots, deeply rooted in the Kibera community. With passion for our culture and landscapes, I guide you through authentic crafts, breathtaking tours, and powerful local stories.
Our community-led slum tour goes beyond sightseeing- it shares real stories of resilience, creativity, and hope.
During the experience, you will visit our community football team, where local youth use sport as a positive tool for discipline and opportunity. You will also enjoy performances and interactions with our dance and cultural group - a powerful local expression.
A key highlight is our community library, a safe learning space supporting education and literacy for children and youth.
The tour also features craft initiatives where local artists create handmade items such as beadwork. The project provides income and promotes self-reliance within the community. By joining this tour, you directly support grassroots initiatives run by the community.
Every visit contributes to empowerment, education, and positive social change.
The tour starts at our meeting point, Prestige Plaza, Ngong Road, Nairobi. From there, we will head directly to the slum. We will also visit the railway line, teaching you how it came into existence. From there, we will go to Willvee Rooftop. Our tour will end at Equity Bank, Ayani, where you can catch an Uber or a matatu as you share your reviews
