Discover Soviet Tallinn: Free Communist Tour with a Local Guide
♡ Save

Tallinn has changed dramatically in recent years and now is an amazing European capital. Our free tour will show the other side of the city, which is the Communist.
Step behind the Iron Curtain with a local guide. From the former KGB headquarters to Soviet landmarks and the concrete giant of Linnahall, hear real stories about everyday life under communism, and how that past still shapes Estonia today.
From the team behind the Best Free Tour Worldwide 2023 (FREETOUR.com Awards).
YOU'LL SEE: The former KGB headquarters, Kino Sõprus, the Writers' House, the Russian Embassy and Linnahall by the sea.
HOW IT FEELS: Real stories, not a history lecture. Some will surprise you, some are so absurd they'll make you laugh.
LANGUAGE: English only.
GUIDES: Jonas, Marko or Christopher. All live in Tallinn and work only for EstAdventures, a small local company.
MEETING POINT: Niguliste 2, in front of the Tourist Information Centre (not Niguliste Church across the street). Look for the blue umbrella!
END: Linnahall, after about 2 hours (sometimes 10–20 min more; we never rush).
HOW IS IT FREE? Booking costs nothing. At the end, give what you feel the tour was worth, by card or cash. Most guests give €15–50, and it goes directly to your guide. Thank you for supporting local guiding!
