Discovering Hidden Valencia: A Family Tour
♡ Save

On children's tours in Valencia, young explorers will step into the shoes of archaeologists and set out in search of traces of the Arab city. Amid lively streets and hidden alleys, they'll discover a surprising past hidden within the city.
What if another city were hidden beneath the streets of Valencia? What if the places that Valencians and tourists pass through every day still held the secrets of a distant past?
Our journey to discover ancient Muslim Valencia begins at Plaza de la Virgen, where young archaeologists will be given a map for their mission: to find traces of the lost city! As they wander through alleys and squares, they’ll have to uncover ancient walls, towers, and archaeological remains hidden among modern buildings. Will they be able to find them all?
During the tour, we’ll trace the history of Valencia, from its Roman founding to the Christian conquest by Jaume I. We’ll discover the names the city has borne over the centuries, the traditions inherited from the Islamic period, and the importance of Muslim culture in urban and agricultural development. Through riddles, fun facts, and little mysteries, young and old alike will discover together a side of Valencia that often goes unnoticed.
Note: The tour is designed for children ages 5 to 10, but that doesn’t mean participation isn’t open to everyone!!
